NZ Independence

How the site's presentation separates data from political interpretation.

NZ in Numbers is not linked to any political party or government agency. The pages present figures and limits without political verdicts. Government bands show timing only.

The quiz challenges each major party's reputation in roughly equal measure. Every answer names its measure, is checked against the data at build time and carries caveats about what a government can and cannot be credited with.

The site shows source figures and marks its own calculations. Dataset definitions and limitations travel with the figures, including where a measure covers only one company, group or part of government.

Charts use a common palette without party colours. Government terms are labelled with prime ministers' names. Topic charts start with government terms switched off.

A movement in a series is not evidence that a government caused it. Term comparisons retain the source's reporting periods and warn where the accounting basis changes.
